Chiang Mai, Thailand: Jetlagged Discoveries

Contrary to popular belief, Nick and I not only survived a total of 17 hours of flying (20 including layover) but also managed to make it to our first destination: Kikie's House, a youth hostel in the heart of Chiang Mai.
Long story short, we made it to our hostel, survived overheating as there was no A/C and started off an early day to explore the beautiful city of Chiang Mai.
To start out the day we discovered an elaborate temple, less than a block from the hostel thanks to a flock of monks we followed in the morning.

After getting our bearings, we decided to keep hoofing around only to discover that temples were more popular than Starbucks back home. So we had to document our findings and here are a few of the intricate temples that we came across.
I decided for one of the larger temples that a simple picture could not capture all of its beauty. Here is a 360 degree video in which you can see the entire temple from my point of view! I suggest that you click the full screen button and drag your mouse around to view in any direction for the full experience!
On top of seeing the incredible temples we came across some delicious meals. Even this traditional pad Thai and 24 Oz beer was less than $5.

To cap off the day, Nick and I searched for a Thai massage to work out the kinks from the 17 hour flights, creaky hostel bed and walking all day. (Little background, when walking around to discover the temples, there must have been massage parlors every other store front). The one time we want to find one, it takes us 30 minutes! (unheard of).
After getting mangled by two small, Thai ladies, we couldn't walk five steps before seeing another massage parlor with ladies beckoning us to use their service. It seems whenever we wanted something, we couldn't find it: food, massages, our hostel, etc. In the end, we both would argue it was a productive day.
Hope you have enjoyed our first day in Thailand as much as we have! Big day tomorrow planned at the elephant sanctuary so stay tuned for another exciting update!
